So the Story Goes – Picture Book Illustrations
So the Story Goes is a series of activities presenting different forms of storytelling, from picture books to music and Indigenous storytelling. This project will explore different forms of storytelling important to the Quebec Anglophone community and will allow participants to experiment with many ways to tell stories.
This activity will include a short presentation by a children’s books illustrator, followed by a workshop during which the guest will present the basis of her art and will guide the participants in applying their new knowledge in a practical way.
Guest – Sophie Casson
Sophie’s award-winning illustrations have appeared in places like the Canadian Human Rights Museum and the pages of Nature, The New York Times and many other prestigious publications. A graduate in graphic design from Université du Québec à Montréal, she is inspired by silkscreen and printing techniques. In 2011 she was finalist for the Governor General’s Award.
