From scones to chicken fricassee, the Culinary Mosaic series of events at the Morrin Centre offers a wonderful opportunity to prepare dishes and learn about the history of the English and French Canadian food traditions.

Culinary Presentation by Catherine Ferland
Saturday, March 16, at 1 p.m.
This talk will present the culinary history of the local French-speaking community and will explore how the traditions of English and French Canada have influenced each other into becoming what they are now in the Quebec culinary world.

Catherine Ferland is a Doctor in History and a specialist in Quebec cultural history, especially culinary history. For 20 years, while pursuing her research activities independently, she has also been working as an expert for museums, TV productions, arts companies, private firms, and government agencies. She is the author of almost a dozen books, some of which have earned honours, and she has written for numerous publications and for national media. She manages the “Aujourd’hui l’histoire” collection of the publisher Septentrion. She created and manages the “Rendez-vous d’histoire de Québec” since 2017.

Cooking Workshop
Saturday, March 16, at 2:15 p.m.
This workshop will teach you how to make Nun’s farts. It will be given by the Morrin Centre team, in French, following a recipe created specifically for the project by La Touche Héloïse.

 

Please note:
– The hands-on workshops cover the preparation of the dishes, but the Nun’s farts will still need to be baked in the oven at home before eating.
–Children aged 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult and the adult must book tickets for both themselves and their child(ren).
