Time:

Event Category :

The Morrin Centre would like to present the first event in the My Morrin Series. Our members, Kristy Findlay and Genevieve Fily-Paré, will host: Bilingualism, the Lifelong Brain Workout: Benefits from Infancy to the Golden Years.

We are very fortunate, in Quebec, to be developing a larger bilingual population than was once observed. The term “bilingualism” encompasses more than just French and English bilinguals; it includes any combination of two or more languages. As speech-language pathologists, Findlay and Fily-Paré will present the most up to date research relating to the impact of bilingualism from birth to the golden years.

After the presentation, there will be an open-discussion about the challenges and advantages of being bilingual in Quebec.

At the end of the presentation, participants walk away with a deeper understand of:

  • What it is to be bilingual;
  • What the myths/truths are around bilinguals;
  • What the impact of bilingualism is on language development; and
  • How bilingualism can be a protective factor for the ageing brain.
