This workshop introduces you to the basics and history of calligraphy. All crafts material will be provided and this workshop is open to all, no previous experience is required. Come learn calligraphy from an experienced artist, Sandhya Mylabathula, in a fun and casual setting!

 

Workshop Facilitator

Dr. Sandhya Mylabathula, PhD, MSc (University of Toronto)
Sandhya Mylabathula, PhD, is an award-winning educator and director of a language and cultural program. She has been designated Ambassador of Francophonie in the Americas and, in this role, she campaigns for access to education in French, representation of French in the scientific community, and the promotion of bilingualism. In line with these objectives, she contributes to boards of directors with organizations that promote the French language, including Canadian Parents for French, Canadian Youth for French and Acfas-Toronto. She founded a company Melon D’Oh La La to offer linguistic and cultural opportunities that are accessible, engaging, and affordable.

 

This workshop is organized in collaboration with Melon D’Oh La La, an organization that promotes language learning and appreciation through cultural activities. This workshop is part of the Morrin Centre’s projects Artistic Connections – Creating Intergenerational Bonds, made possible thanks to the support of the Government of Canada, and Poetry Pen Pals in partnership with the Quebec City UNESCO City of Literature.
