The Morrin Centre library is pleased to announce that we’ll be hosting a virtual book club on May 28th! We’ll be discussing The Awakening by Kate Chopin.
The novel is available for Morrin Centre members to borrow as an e-book from the Morrin Centre library’s e-book collection here.
Kate Chopin’s The Awakening was first published in 1899. Set in New Orleans and on the Louisiana Gulf coast at the end of the 19th century, the plot centers on Edna Pontellier and her struggle between her increasingly unorthodox views on femininity and motherhood and the prevailing social attitudes of the turn-of-the-century American South.
The book is widely viewed as a landmark work of early feminism.
Come join our discussion of this classic text!
Participants will be sent more information about how to join the event on Zoom the week of the event.
