Literary Feast 2016

Please join us for our eighth annual Literary Feast, our annual fundraising dinner.



The evening will start with a cocktail at 5:30 p.m. in one of Canada’s most beautiful libraries, followed by dinner in the historic College Hall at 6:30 p.m catered by Panache.

Keynote speaker

Roch CarrierRoch Carrier, who studied at the Université de Montreal and completed a doctorate in Paris at the Sorbonne, is a novelist, playwright and children's author, and past winner of the Stephen Leacock Medal for Humour. Formerly the director of the Canada Council for the Arts and the National Librarian of Canada, Carrier is a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and an Officer of the Order of Canada, and he holds many honorary doctorates. A quote from Carrier’s Canadian children's classic The Hockey Sweater could be found until recently on the back of Canada’s five-dollar bill. Carrier lives in Montreal.

He will be talking about his bestselling biography, Montcalm and Wolfe, on this occasion.

Honorary Chair

Yvon Charest, F.S.A., F.C.I.A.

Charest Yvon-RGB-2015Mr. Charest is President and Chief Executive Officer of Industrial Alliance, a position he has held since May 2000. From 1996 to 1999, he was Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer and was appointed to the position of Chief Executive Officer in spring 1999.

Mr. Charest began his career at Industrial Alliance when he completed his studies in actuarial sciences at Université Laval. He held numerous positions in the Actuarial, Administration and Marketing sectors before becoming Chief Actuary from 1992 to 1996.

Within the Industrial Alliance group, Mr. Charest sits on the board of directors of IA Clarington Investments Inc., Industrial Alliance Auto and Home Insurance and IA American Life Insurance Company.

Mr. Charest also sits on the board of directors of the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association (CLHIA) and acted as President for the 2006-2007 period.

Mr. Charest is very active among humanitarian organizations in the region. He has supported Centraide Québec in all its operations since 2000 and acted as co-chair of the 2012 fundraising campaign. In 2013, he received the Chair’s Award from United Way Canada. He is currently in charge of financing campaign at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec. In April 2012, Mr. Charest received the Philanthropist Award from the Quebec City Philanthropist Society (Ordre des mécènes de la Ville de Québec). Yvon Charest is also married and the father of three children.




Emcee: Susan Campbell, CBC Radio

CampbellSusan Campbell was born in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. She completed journalism studies at the University of King’s College in Halifax.

After a year in the corporate world she came to Quebec City to fulfill a promise she’d made to her Grade 6 French teacher to one day become proficient in her second language. During her studies at Université Laval she was hired as an associate producer at CBC Radio in Quebec City, and she’s been there ever since,

She’s currently host of the CBC’s regional morning show for the province, Quebec AM.
