The Literary and Historical Society of Quebec published thousands of pages of valuable documents between 1824 and 1924. These are a testimony to the growth of cultural and intellectual activity in Canada as well as to our earliest history. The Transactions deal primarily with original scientific, historical and literary research. The Historical Documents reprint early works of Canadian historical interest found in archival sources around the world. Topics covered are eclectic, ranging from ostrich farming on the Cape of Good Hope to a history of eau-de-vie in Canada.
